If you are already familiar with the high mountain environment and confident with glacier travel, this course will teach you the most effective techniques for crevasse rescue, to help you build your confidence with one of the most challenging scenarios in mountaineering.
Program
We will cover the following topics:
practical demonstrations of how to build different haul systems for a crevasse rescuedemonstration and construction of snow anchorspractical demonstration of an arrested fallpractical test on building a haul system
1°Day
Meeting point: meeting at 8:30 at the Skyway terminus for equipment check and a short briefing.
We will take the cable car to Punta Helbronner (3,466 m). Once on the glacier, we will find a place suitable for teaching, testing holds and practising crevasse rescue.
Note: In spring, we will use mountaineering equipment during the course.
